I was asked to post it here. All printers are run through a Windows 2003 print server. There is no error in system logs about Print Spooler service. Anyway, this server has been having issues so I removed all the old printers from the Control Panel\Printers applet.

  • We can kill the UmRdpSerivce and restart the print spooler and this will get printing working again but now all users must login and log out.
  • Printing takes about 10 minutes and sometimes the servers hang entirely.

I installed the HP UPD version 5.8.0 and it hang the Spooler service - but uninstalling it againwith PrintDetective.exe from Citrix, made the spooler problem go away. The only thing that seems to make the problem go away is to stop and restart the print spooler. They are going to work on a hotfix (if they accept the request) and will address that part of it.
